The network at BigMediaCo is still filled with viruses, making access to the WWW a little hectic. Seeing as the move of the 2 call centers have already been postponed (were due for last Friday), I fail to comprehend the relative slowness of IT to tackle the issue. I do not know how long my virus-free status will remain and that is why I have decided to move some of my more important stuff on my multiply account for storage and easy retrieval.

Last night at the Auto Show was great (pictures pending) Among my favourites (in no particular order) : Lotus Elise, Pléthore, Mazda Kabura, Ferrari Fiorano, the various Mustangs, and a revamped Pontiac GT6 with a shiny copper sheen...

Work non whitstanding, big day today. Couple of books to pick at the library and some quick shut-eye.

Here's the Tarot Outlook Of The Day :

The Chariot: Victory through might. Advancement through bold action. Change through force. Order established through vigilance. A trying situation mastered by balancing opposing forces against each other. Discipline, individual effort and endurance will turn the tide.

Hmm, could this means my viral troubles are at end?

I always pride myself on being one of the "good" guys. Oh not "good" as the opposite of evil, but rather in the sense of being a dependable, reasonable chap like Charlie Brown but there are limits.

I'm sick and tired of being taken for granted, being expected to always be a good sport no matter how many times I've been kicked in the teeth.

I'm tired of people thinking they know me when they don't even bother to get to actually know me.

Found something interesting while browsing on the Vox website.

Trott (co-founder of SixApart) has an interesting golden rule that she would like to see bloggers adopt. "If you aren’t going to say something directly to someone’s face, than don’t use online as an opportunity to say it," she says. "It is this sense of bravery that people get when they are anonymous that gives the blogosphere a bad reputation."

I agree wholeheartedly with that statement and I try to adhere to this in all my electronic communications, be they e-mail, blog entries, or what not. Even when I assume another identity, the core being and the values I adhere too remain the same. It's too bad they are too many players in the field, comforted in the relative anonymity of the Net to act tough.

In other news, I couldn't help but laugh that the Harpy Harper has decided to give back some of the farmland the government had expropriated to build YMX

And now, the Tarot outlook of the day

The Emperor: Worldly authority and power. Social mastery and oratory. One who is intelligent, experienced, confident and reasonable. A patriarch or primary male influence. The motive force of politics and society. The ability to fulfill plans and use mental control over the emotions.

...hmm this is intriguing to say the least. I did receive an e-mail stating there was a special draw for the employees in the department, it could be related.

So much to say, here's a quick update on what preys my mind...

Welcome to my first Nanowrimo'06 entry. As you probably noticed I have updated my userpic to reflect my current endeavour

I have started to fall behind on my schedule and I'll have to start burning the midnight oil. Of course I take "some" comfort by comparing myself to others in my region, but the rational part of me is stating that it's probably because people haven't updated their word counts yet!

How do I justify my procastinating? By going out and looking for stuff for next year! A couple of weeks back, I decided to merge any NHL-related data with Tolkein terminology, I decided to do the same thing with the NBA and Dragonlance. I decided this by looking at the Krynnish Cleric Handbook "Holy Order Of The Stars" while debating or not to keep my basketball-related datum from the previous years even if it's now out of date...Of course the prospect of seeing someone like Rafael "Hoffa" Araujo as a Majere-praching monk. then again, I seem to remember a certain kung-fu priest from my Dragonlance campaign that was just as far-fetched...

Last night, as I was watching CNN, I was surprised to see how the Democrats managed to pick Senate seats on the Grand Ol' Party. I'm sure that is just a temporary situation and that Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island should return to their previous allegiances in the near future... Not that it's something i want to see, mind you!

Armstrong is killing me! I thought for sure he would be anchoring the first line with Crosby and Malkin, but he seem to have been bit by the sophmore bug. I guess the hockey gods are punishing for not talking about my team last week!

Divination-wise, I have drawn The Tower: Comeuppance. Setback. Disaster. Arrogance of pride cast down by Providence. Unforeseen event. Calamity. Hopefully, this is only about hockey and not anything else

Reading[info]illawara_flame's blog, I came across a story that I haven't seen in the news here (not even on BBC World).

NB the article is available at this location.

I have to admit that I am not surprised by the fact that this was not broadcassted here. Altough, I think the geneal populace supports the Tibetans' cause, there is a lot of pressure not to say anything that puts China in a bad light. All in the name of the mighty dollar. Sigh

Add to this the new powderkeg being lit up by Kim Jong Il, which even if it may or may not be an actual nuclear bomb, it's still one step closer for an unruly child to have access to a match book in a propane-filled shed.

Speaking of Korea, there was a news report about a joint South-North industrial area where the North provides the location and the (cheap) labour and the South the know-how in building industries. The manager of one textile plant was gushing about how this will help build a bridge between the 2 sides while being economically sound as it was less expensive to use this work force than outsourcing. Hope that [info]wakeupandlive78 is okay

Except for one small wrinkle, the average salary of the employees is 30 EUR (about 42 $CAN) and most of it goes to the government. I don't know about you but the bridges built under this kind of arrangement would be mighty flimsy.

Using the link provided to me for tarot readings, instead my usual one, here is my Tarot Outlook of the Day

The Sun
This card represents material success and the achievement of goals, fulfillment in the simple life.

Not the 9 of Cups, but still a profitable omen for the day!

This is a cross-post from my Vox blog, Please take a sec or 2 to look around (if you haven't already done it) and maybe you could get into the many-pictured fun yourself, unh?

It seems that even though, I did not get the opportunity to return to Ontario and meet again with the Diver Prince, I retain a small nautical connection to my info gathering as I picked up my first NHL-related data nugget for the coming season with the San Jose Sharks' Mark Bell.

Even though, I did not include in my previous posts of possible impact newcomers I am kind of glad of adding him as he is moving from Chicago to the first line with Freakin' Joe Thornton. How cool is that?

As always, when I add a professional athlete, I'll have his updated alt-carreer compiled with stats. For those who don't know when I set my sights on an athlete, I try and reverse-engineer his career so that he would have been with his current team from the beginning. Someimes it helps me find inspiration even if my story is as far away from pro sports as it could be.

In other news, it seems that my days of MtG Tarot are over as I find it more and more difficult getting them from the office. I'll have to rely to plain regular tarot to read my future.

The Hanged Man Pausing to reflect. Surrendering to an experience. Adjusting to new ideas through sacrifice. Opening oneself to intuition and enhanced awareness. Letting go of past patterns and growing beyond them. Inner peace, faith, and serenity.

Hmm, it does fit my inner turmoils. Now, how best to apply them to solving my current situation?
