One of the *happy* consequences of my picking an outside source instead of the lbirary for my next story idea is that it will probably give me an opportunity to bring a few books down Mexico way with me, giving me an alternative to taking whatever is on the Tube down there.
Good thing I called off my meeting with SpecialK tommorow, as I'll be starting in the wee hours. At first, it was supposed to be today, but the new person in charge of the development side net-wise is a grade-A moron. I can't believe no one else in the hierarchy has remarked upon the fact. For exemple,
* An implementation a couple of weeks was cancelled because the guy didn't think to plan it.
* Instead of going to meetings to set up the priorities, he asks his developers to send e-mails to my boss and boss' bosses telling them that some things are ready to be tested and why isn't there any one working on this.
* He does't read his e-mails, so he can ask multiple times for a status on some thing that was released a few weeks back.
One good thing came out of yesterday. It seems I'm on a real Indian tear these days as I found a new Tandoori-flavoured Doritos. While the fusion of Indian cuisine and Nachos is a bit alien for me, I have to admit I liked it. It's got lots of heat and yet you can taste the difference brought by the spices.

My first MtG Tarot pick at the office with my alternate site is WIZARD'S SCHOOL. Interesting.

It's been a long time since I updated on a almost daily basis. It's getting a bit tedious. I don't if it's the cold weather or the usual post-Holiday letdown or maybe pre-vacation jitters, but I feel restless. Work is getting on my nerves, it's grating. I feel ithere's a lull before the storm, but the funny thing. I'm leaving in less than a month so, even if something new comes up, I doubt it's coming up my way as there won't be enough time to go from start to finish. On the personal front, It's been quiet... too quiet... I think getting away will help on that front. It's been a long time but it's the return of MTG Tarot!!! I've drawn PHANTASMAGORIAN. Last time I have drawn something similar was at my birthday. Are you pondering what I am pondering? - Under surveillance at:Big Long-Eye

Finally a week-end day with no rain. I took a few hours to recharge my batteries as it were by going out. I'm a little over schedule but contrary to the previous years, I don't feel the same surge as the previous years. It could be because I don't have the same urgency and keep a more regular schedule than previous years. Currently watching the Alouettes getting trounced. Can't say I'm surprised the team is like the Atlanta Braves. sigh MtG Tarot wise, I've drawn BASAL SLIVER, which is funny since the last time I had drawn a Sliver, I was enjoying a day off and tommorow, I'll be enjoying a "virtual" day off as it were. re-sigh - Under surveillance at:Long-Eye

It's weird but I feel the past few days have been quite draining and I don't know why. It could be the cold I have been carrying, or just a wave of melancholy brought by the 1-year anniversary to my visit to Vancouver, with all the emotional baggage this entails. And since this week is my last week of gathering data for this year's NaNoWriMo, I feel I will be busy. But it's not all bleak. Found last night a great cocktail recipe I am eager to try. At least, I'm back with my MtG Tarot deck. MISHRA, ARTIFICER PRODIGY. I have to admit I am glad I have drawn something like this, it gives me hope for the coming days. - Under surveillance at:BigMediaCo

I seem to be suffering from a temporary case of the writer's block, for I do not know what to say... It has been a while since I posted 4 days in a row and I feel my juices have been sucked dry by the absence of any amusing anecdote.
Good thing, that Fantasia is coming into town... While I will probably not be able to see "Call of Cthulhu", I will try and see at least 10 movies. I haven't made my choices yet but I'm sure I will not be disappointed. I still remember attending the premiere for John Carpenter's Vampires a few years back and also Sangre eterna, which I always felt was a nice twist on White Wolf's Vampire RPG.
To keep with the same schlock-horror feel, I have drawn DEATHGAZER as my card for the day. Hopefully, I won't fall prey to its stare.

So, the good folks at BigMediaCo thought they could lock me out... I will show them, I WILL SHOW THEM ALL!!! <cue the maniacal laughter>
Actually, my boss has all but pressured me to take a day off as my comp time bank was still hovering near the limit. Seeing I'm leaving to Ottawa for the week-end tommorow, I jumped at the opportunity as it will give me some time to prepare my bags and what not.
Even so, I had to drop by the office some items and it's not because I'm obsessive-compulsive, really it's not!!!
In other news, looked at my first RPG source since going catty. For now, I will try and avoid the more "fantastic" offerings and concentrate mainly on "modern" (though, not neccessarily more realistic) games.
That's why I started reading Vampire: the Requiem's Mythologies which has lots of background information on alternative origins for vampires. Of course, this might not be useful for now, as I doubt I'll be using blood-drinking monsters any time soon, but I'll nonetheless add notes from my readings as I'm sure I can find some use to it...
For exemple, what if the cat wasn't a cat at all but something in feline form? Bad news for that Jersey family...
For my MtG card of the day, ICEQUAKE came out. Freak weather? Better bring some survival gear on my trip to the Diver Prince...

So much TV, so little sleep. Good thing yesterday was a holiday, so that I could finish my work before evening came as they was a glut of TV season or series finales all around the same time and me with the one VCR. Here's a list of what I planned watching yesterday: 24. All I can say is WOW!!! Way to cap a season and while the ending was a but unsurprising for me, it was a nice set-up for next season. When last season ended, I was weary of seeing how they could justify bringing Jack for one more time. But this season has shown that once and for all, I DON'T KNOW JACK.... Alias. Of all the shows of the night, this was the one which I had the least expectations, and while I haven't watch the whole 2 eps (channel-surfing back and forth) but from I have seen tells me that the show was due to end. I think it went one season too long. But it was still one of the few series I was eager waiting the next episode each and every week. Let's hope these movies rumours will be stillborn for it woud only dilute the good aspects of this series. CSI Miami. Haven't watched. Meant to. This is one series I will have to catch up eventually, much like L&O: SVU, which is supposed to be the best of the franchise. Monk. Not so much a finale but BigMediaCo TV has decided to begin showing episodes out of sync. Which is bad when people following the show will be non-plussed. Boo! Yet another reason to get a digital device. For my draw of the day, I got FLAYED NIM. Time to bring out the flagellant in me... - Under surveillance at:BigMediaCo

Well another year has pass for 'Ol Captain Random and while I enjoy the bounty of the Far East (Hi, monosaandalos_1 ), I spent a rather laid-back day.
It's too bad that wisdom does not come automatically as one grows older. I could really use the way my work life is spinning out of control... Speaking of which, it seems that we will be moving . I don't have any personal opinion about it except that it will weird working in HQ. I guess we'll have to call this "New Cablonia". Story-wise, it does't make much difference to me. It's just a couple stations further down the line but it wouldn't affect my usual routine.

In other news, I have been branching out some data on Vampires. While reading "The Carthians' Handbook", it dawned on me that this could be a good way to further differentiate the 2 areas. I will have to start to flesh out a little more these tidbits, as I don't want to trip up.
As for my card draw, while last year was a blessing in disguise, this year is PHYREXIAN NEGATOR. Last time, I've drawn a Phyrexian was when I got back from Mexico. Lots of stuff to think about in the next few days.

Well, It's official! I have decided to throw my lot this year to the Cleveland Indians, It's funny that it took me almost one month to decide but I have failed to garner any interest for the game. This being one year removed from the novelty of the Washington Nationals, which were my point of interest last season, my interest is now only guided by how useful I can pick information out.
The funny thing is that I am mainly guided by looking at each team's newest arrival before coming to a decision and looking in Beckett Baseball (which is kind of weird to find that a magazine mostly connected to baseball cards releasing such a book) and found Paul Byrd. It's funny because while he had never played for Cleveland, he had been drafted by that team in 1991. Had he remained with the team in 1994 instead of being traded to the Mets, I'm pretty sure he could have had a domino effect which would have started by the team not signing Orel Hershiser.
Just for argument's sake, I will try and do a little stat projection. Looking at this year's stats, though, I'm not sure, it will be much of a boost for the team, ugh!
Which segues nicely to my MtG draw of the day, VICIOUS BETRAYAL. Which is probably how the Indians feels right now...

Hmm, Livejournal's still having hiccups... I wonder if it is caused by those disgruntled with the recent admission of ads?
The Hockey season is officially over here in the City... While the first 2 games of the series brought an élan of enthusiasm that the Habs might pull an upset, logic and a hot goalie has derailed our hopes.
Still, after a year off, it was nice to find that people here were still in the mood.
Not much to say for now, except my belated care package has arrived safely...
And yet I feel a sense of dread in the air...
For MtG tarot today, I've drawn RAKDOS ICKSPITTER, "ickspitter", that's a funny word... sigh
