7th-Jun-2005 06:46 - Pitching a new idea [defense]

Last night, I had a weird dream which seems linked to my story idea but I'm not quite sure how to interpret it... I was walking on a road bordered by fields in what looked liked your typical oriental-influenced medieval environment. I was dressed in a rather non-descript way with pants and a linen shirt, both dark blue. The only thing that I seemed to have beside my clothes and a money pouch was a porcelain mask, black with emeralds set in the eye sockets.

As I made my way on the busy road, Someone (who, incidently, looked remarkably like Steven Seagal) in a cart offered me a lift. He was a travling salesman, carrying all matter of junk to sale in the next village. I saw what looked like poitions, musical instruments, clothing, and what not. I don't remember what we did talked about and I woke up soon after that, just as we were arriving to a village...

This is weird on so many levels. While I do remember *some* of the dreams I have (even having sometimes, weird flashback moments as events in real life seem to imitate what I dreamt), it had always been difficult to remember a dream just so. I don't look for second-degree symbolism though as this looked like rather a set-up for the story I'm currently working on for NaNoWriMo.

Right now, I'm working on 2 stories that will be in a separate world/setting than my previous ones. A setting which I began to work on since September of last year. Without giving any spoilers, the first short story (for the Voir's short story competition) will deal with a Hack-type of situation with interaction between 2 worlds (the "real" and the "game" worlds) while the second story will deal more with the "game" setting. As usual, I have a wide range of inspiration everywhere from the World of Darkness to Yahoo's sites of the day. And I expect my coming trip to BC will help too (although, too late for my first story).

The funny thing is that Steven Seagal (which I always paired with Jean-Claude Van Damme as cardboard-type of actors) would be perfect as a template for the main character. After all, anyone who can play a character which was "...a covert agent trained in Vietnam. He has a master 6th degree black belt in Aikido... and family in the Mafia. He's a cop with an attitude" would fit the bent-on-revenge type. Don't know why I dream of him, though, too much afternoon movies on TV, I guess.

In other news, I have decided to stop for the time being pulling cards for the MTG-Tarot, it was getting kind of weird. Instead, I am trying another type based on MLB Showdown. and the first card I've drawn is GREAT START. Gotta love it!

Then again, I do not know where this would lead...
